About Henry's Cuisine

Nestled in the heart of Alhambra, California, Henry’s Cuisine stands as a culinary beacon for those seeking authentic Chinese flavors infused with modern creativity. Located at 301 E Valley Blvd, this unassuming yet vibrant eatery has carved a niche for itself by blending traditional Cantonese techniques with contemporary Asian fusion twists, offering a dining experience that feels both familiar and refreshingly innovative. Since its founding in 2015 by partners Henry Tu and Henry Chau, the restaurant has become a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike, celebrated for its homestyle cooking, welcoming atmosphere, and dedication to culinary craftsmanship.

The moment guests step inside, they’re greeted by a casual yet lively ambiance—think scarlet-red booths, walls adorned with metallic lobster sculptures, and the hum of sports broadcasts playing in the background. This laid-back vibe makes it an ideal spot for everything from family gatherings to casual dinners with friends. The menu reflects a harmonious marriage of Cantonese tradition and inventive flair, with seafood taking center stage. Signature dishes like the Viet-style lobster, served atop a bed of noodles, showcase the kitchen’s ability to balance bold flavors with delicate textures. Equally noteworthy is the deep-fried salted pig’s feet, a dish that surprises with its crackling crispness, and the shrimp tossed in salted egg yolk, which offers a rich, savory-sweet contrast.

Vegetable dishes here are far from an afterthought. Seasonal picks like garlicky mustard greens provide a refreshing counterpoint to richer fare, while stir-fried beans and glass noodles with tiger shrimp highlight the kitchen’s commitment to freshness and balance. The inclusion of vegan and vegetarian options ensures that diverse dietary preferences are catered to without compromising on flavor. Regulars often rave about the honey garlic pork chops and filet mignon cubes, which exemplify the restaurant’s knack for transforming humble ingredients into memorable meals.

Service at Henry’s Cuisine is consistently praised for its warmth and efficiency, with staff members adept at guiding diners through the menu’s highlights. Whether recommending the curry-infused specialties or explaining the nuances of a seasonal vegetable dish, the team ensures that every visit feels personalized. The restaurant’s popularity is evident during peak hours, when the dining room buzzes with energy, yet the experience remains relaxed and unhurried.

Beyond its food, Henry’s Cuisine embraces practicality with touches like happy hour specials and a BYO-container policy for leftovers, reflecting a thoughtful approach to customer needs. Its recognition by the MICHELIN Guide underscores its reputation as a standout in Southern California’s competitive Chinese food scene, while reviews from platforms like Tripadvisor consistently highlight its “friendly staff” and “great food.” For those craving Cantonese comfort with a creative edge, Henry’s Cuisine delivers a dining experience that’s as satisfying as it is distinctive—a testament to the vision of its founders and the enduring appeal of thoughtfully crafted, flavor-driven cuisine.

Open daily from 11 AM to 9 PM, the restaurant invites guests to explore its diverse offerings, whether for a leisurely weekend brunch or a weeknight dinner. With its combination of tradition, innovation, and hospitality, Henry’s Cuisine isn’t just a meal—it’s a celebration of culinary passion, one dish at a time.

The seafood here is so damn good. We preordered Dungeness crab and steamed fish. The crab was garlicky over steamed noodles and the fish had the classic Cantonese scallion and soy accoutrements. But surprisingly the dish I couldn’t stop eating was the tofu with salted fish and chicken. Damn could eat that every night.

Went to Henry’s Cuisine for lunch, tried the lobster 🦞 and fish filet with a side of Chinese broccoli. While we enjoyed our meal, we both felt Boston Lobster and Newport Tang remain the top two lobster spots in town. From a pricing perspective, you can compare the receipt prices with my reviews across all three where size was over three pounds each time. Three stars because of our mixed experience on service, the initial host was great but the rest of the team weren’t. At nearly $100 per person, expectations are higher. Also, I was thrown off by the 12% service fee, wish the venue provided some clarity on how much of that go to the service staff. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Venue was at 50% capacity during peak lunch so no wait times. Plenty of parking and group friendly. Privacy glass helped to keep noise levels lower than typical restaurants of the same size. Comfortable booth seating was a plus 🫶 See menu photos for more details. Included photos of the Michelin guide badge.

4 adults went for dinner on Monday night, ordered Fish Maw with shrimp ball soup $33, soup is in white color, tastes very good. Deep fried salted pig feet $29, crispy skin. Hu tiger shrimp $33, disappointed, it's no comparison to Bistro Na's crispy shrimp. Honey garlic pork chop $27.5, it's okay, not fancy. Vietnamese style Filet mignon $29.5. The beef is very tender, but you can easily get similar ones in other Cantonese restaurants. Even though it's a Michelin star restaurant, don't expect a standard Michelin restaurant decoration either inside or outside, there's no Michelin star atmosphere.

They have an overwhelmingly large menu of Cantonese, Chinese, and Vietnamese dishes. We did not have a single miss in our two visits! Their beef is delightfully tender, shrimp was so juicy, and portions were quite large with lots of veggies alongside the proteins! While the lobster is market price, it’s 100% worth it — so fresh and sweet; add noodles to soak up every last bit of the buttery sweet goodness. Their dinner menu (starting at 5pm) is substantially more expensive than lunch, but if you arrive at 4:45 for example, you can take advantage of both menus. They are open every single day of the year!

We stopped by Henry’s Cuisine for some lobster. I didn’t realize that the restaurant was Michelin recommended. The exterior looks pretty run down but the inside and food tells a different story. The Lobster was 3-4lbs and we got it Vietnamese style. It was fresh and full of flavor. the Basil clams were also good as was the sweet and sour pork. I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area.
